The Story

Tsukiji is the world’s largest Fish Market and notably known for it’s famous Tuna Auctions.

Located in Central Tokyo, next to the Sumida River, It’s home to thousands of wholesale and retail shops and numerous restaurants where you can have some of the freshest Sushi and other seafood.

It attracts a lot of tourist from all around the world, but most of the parts are restricted to the tourists in order to avoid disturbing the course of business run there.

I decided to attend the early morning Tuna Auctions, where you can find these massive Tuna fishes brought by the ship fished from various parts of the world. It’s fascinating to see the bidders keenly inspect the fishes for their texture, color and other features.

Later I spent a great deal of time walking around different parts of the market. The most unique part of the market is the inner market, full of beautiful narrow lanes and packed with people. It opens to tourists only after the peak business hours have passed and it’s important not to disturb anyone while walking around or taking photographs.

It’s definitely a place you should visit for the unique experience it has to offer, and all the delicious food that’s served in the restaurants around.

I hope you enjoy the photos!
