Sensoji is an ancient buddhist temple located in Asakusa, Tokyo.
It’s easily the most beautiful temple in Tokyo as well as the oldest. You enter through the first gate called Kamarimon or ‘Thunder Gate’ and then the second gate called Hozomon to reach the main temple grounds. Sadly when I visited the Kamarimon was under renovation so it was covered in scaffold and tarps.
In between is the Nakamise Dori, the oldest shopping street of Tokyo, where you can find amazing traditional delicacies, souvenirs, and various other Japanese artefacts.
One can always find the temple grounds packed with local people and tourists from all around the world alike, which makes it a wonderful place to shoot portraits.
The temple is gorgeously lit in the night, and one can stay there as long as they want because the temple grounds are always open.
